Mountain Equipment Ultratherm Jacket review.
The ultratherm jacket by Mountain Equipment is an amazing jacket. One that has instantly become my favourite. Incredibly light weight, incredibly versatile, and brings so much warmth and wind sheathing.
The jacket is quite snug, and is relatively figure hugging. The pockets work well with wearing a pack as they are slightly higher and allow the hands into the pockets even with the waist belt done up. The material is Mountain Equipment‘s own “helium” fabric. This is on an array of their newer jackets, and features in many of their synthetic insulation jackets such as the compressor. At first feel I was worried it would rip and tear at the least little thing, but so far so good. And is strength is growing daily. It seems quite bramble resilient too.
One of this jackets aces is its size and weight. It folds into its pocket, and then can be compressed down, to fit in trouser pockets if required. It is so small and light you are foolish not to carry it. It replaces a jumper at the moment, towards the end of the summer in Cornwall. The wind may be blowing and the nights are drawing in, and the chill is definitely in the air. This little beauty gives you confidence. Don’t need a big jacket, jumpers make you sweat. This beauty is brilliant…. SO brilliant I bought 2. A green one and the red one here.
